Module 5: Reading Assignment 4

In "Rape of the Lock", the importance of vanity in high society is shown when a fued between prominent families breaks out because someone stole a lock of belinda's hair. In "A Modest Proposal", it is also about the rich and all their luxuries. Offering to feed them the children of the poor for a price. I think he is trying to portray how twisted society can become. Money can buy and control just about anything. I think he is trying to compare the value of life to all those things we posess but that don't really have any value.
